BIKINNOV Hosted Event on the Impact of New Regulations on the Bicycle Industry

BIKiNNOV made its mark at S4i in Madrid with innovative technologies for bicycle mobility

BIKINNOV, in partnership with ABIMOTA, held today an event focused on the impact of regulatory and normative frameworks on the competitiveness of the bicycle industry, addressing the future directions and challenges the sector will face with the implementation of new public policies.

The main objective of the event was to present a study analyzing how new European regulations will influence the development of the bicycle industry, highlighting opportunities for adaptation and innovation for companies in the sector. The session brought together professionals and experts who discussed the implications of these changes and identified strategies to keep pace with emerging trends.

In addition to the study presentation, participants had the opportunity to visit BIKINNOV’s facilities, where they learned about the innovative solutions being developed to support the sustainable and competitive growth of the industry.

Following the visit, the Technical Committee CT 103 met. Its mission is to establish and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and sustainability standards—key elements for advancing the industry, which is currently undergoing a process of modernization and adaptation to environmental and safety requirements. This working group, in collaboration with European regulatory authorities, ensures that new public policies are effectively and innovatively integrated into the two-wheeler sector.

Gil Nadais, Executive Director of BIKINNOV, commented on the importance of standards and regulatory frameworks for the two-wheeler sector, stating:
“Standardization is a fundamental pillar to ensure the competitiveness and sustainability of the bicycle industry. The new regulations represent an opportunity to innovate and respond to the challenges of sustainable mobility, promoting a safer and more efficient environment for all.”

BIKINNOV thanks all participants and ABIMOTA for their collaboration and reaffirms its commitment to continuing to support innovation and the development of the bicycle sector, with a focus on sustainability and competitiveness.

This event took place within the scope of Action Line 3 – Standards Monitoring, integrated into the Interface Mission – Base Funding for Technology and Innovation Centers, and funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan, as well as by the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds.
