BIKiNNOV promotes Final Seminar “Smart Cities of the Future” to discuss mobility, innovation and urban transformation
On 28 October, in Águeda, BIKiNNOV – Bike Value Innovation Center Association will hold the Final Seminar “Smart Cities of the Future – Knowledge, Mobility and Innovation for Urban Transformation”, dedicated to presenting the results of Action Line 1 – Smart Cities of the Future.
Throughout the project, BIKiNNOV organised 12 Think Tanks, called MobiThinks, bringing together experts, researchers, companies, municipalities and other organisations from the urban mobility ecosystem. These meetings made it possible to gather contributions, identify good practices and consolidate strategic recommendations to address the main challenges facing the cities of the future.
The seminar will therefore provide an opportunity to share this work publicly, fostering dialogue between research, public administration, companies and stakeholders involved in urban innovation.
The programme includes three keynote sessions on key themes in urban transformation. Gonçalo Homem de Almeida Correia, from Instituto Superior Técnico, will address sustainable urban mobility and carbon neutrality; Miguel de Castro Neto, from NOVA Information Management School, will speak about data, artificial intelligence and smart city management; and Marta Alvarez, from EIT Urban Mobility, will focus on innovation, Living Labs and active mobility.
The agenda also includes the roundtable “Mobility in the Cities of the Future”, bringing together representatives from different fields to discuss accessibility, inclusion, urban data management, public policies, sustainable mobility solutions and the role of active mobility in building more resilient cities.
Other highlights include the presentation of the “Smart Cities of the Future” study and the official launch of the Collaborative Book, developed from the contributions gathered during the MobiThinks. The publication brings together trends, challenges and recommendations in the areas of urban mobility, digitalisation, inclusion, accessibility and public policy.
With this event, BIKiNNOV aims to strengthen knowledge transfer and foster new collaborations between public entities, companies, academia and research centres, contributing to the development of more innovative and sustainable urban solutions.
The Final Seminar will take place on 28 October 2026 at BIKiNNOV’s premises in Águeda.
The initiative is part of project 004ANI – Smart Cities of the Future, under the Interface Mission – Base Funding for Technology and Innovation Centres, funded by the PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan and by NextGenerationEU.
